Denmark’s Centre for Sustainable Living is under threat! PLEASE HELP!

ALERT! Denmark’s fantastic Centre for Sustainable Living is under threat! The Denmark High School has presented the Centre with a “notice to vacate”. BY JUNE 30, 2012. The accompanying letter also states that “in the Department’s view” the 15 year lease is “no longer valid”.

What’s going on here? No consultation, no imagination, no thought for the future of an outstanding community asset, that’s what.

The speakers are very engaging and knowledgable. Definitely worth getting involved if you have the time. The panel would be a great time to talk about practical changes we can be involved in.

Speak up about the carbon price.

The big polluters and their lobbyists are spending up big.

They want to scare people into thinking we shouldn’t make the big polluters pay for their carbon emissions. Don’t let them get away with it.

Now is the time to go that little bit further, and write a letter to the editor of your favourite newspaper, or call talkback radio, and say that you support the carbon price.

We need to act on climate change, and we need to tell others that we’re prepared to carry our share of the responsibility for moving Australia to a future powered by renewable energy.

Please?

Train to Save the Whales

ORCCA would like to train a group of volunteers to help stranded or injured whales, dolphins or seals. ORCCA would like to conduct a Marine Mammal training course in March covering topics such as:

- Natural History of Whales, Seals and Dolphins

- First Aid for Whales and Dolphins

- Situational Assessment of Whale and Dolphin Strandings

- Principles and Strategies for Whale and Dolphin Rescue

- Health and Safety
